Compliance Requirements

The amendment introduced on 1st of July 2022 to Type-A gas appliance servicing standards by the VBA and EnergySafe Victoria have resulted in further compliance requirements.

The new requirements will improve the consistency and quality of servicing for consumers and reduce safety risks associated with ineffective servicing, including the potential for spillage of combustion products, such as carbon monoxide.

In a typical residential setting, this means any service or repair to a gas oven or stove, ducted heater, space heater, hot water system or gas meter requires the licensed practitioner to generate and submit a Gas Servicing Report to the Victorian Building Association. Any customer with works over $750.00 must be issued a Certificate of Plumbing Compliance.
